The seasoned player’s guide to how to win at slots

There are slot machine players. And then there are slot machine winners. Players feed the machines blindly, hoping to catch a win every now and then. Winners play only the right slot machines, knowing that winning isn’t a question of if but a question of when. And when they sit down, they know the exact combination of paylines and credits to bet in order to make that win eventually happen. Want to know what most online slot machine players don’t? Read on for a how to win at slots guide that’s easy to follow.

players-guide-win-slots-1Stay away from the “nickel” slots

In Last Vegas, if you ask any expert how to win at slots, they’ll tell you stay away from the nickel machines because the payouts are, well, garbage. But when you play online slots, you don’t really choose to play nickel or dollar slots. Instead, you sit down at a slot machine and bet whatever you want between the minimum and maximum. It could be as little as a few cents per spin or as much as over $100 (and sometimes way higher).

But here’s the deal. Far too many new casino players make the mistake of not realizing that every online slot machine they sit at has the potential to be a nickel slot. Or, worse, a penny slot. And you should really think about this if you’re trying to win at slots. You can avoid treating the machine like a nickel slot or penny slot by making sure you bet at least $1 per spin. If that’s too much for you, a quarter per spin is still a better bet than $0.05.

players-guide-win-slots-2Make sure you’re eligible for the jackpot

When you play a multi-payline online slot machine while trying to win at slots, you can choose to play anywhere from one line to all of them. But in some games, playing anything other than the maximum number of lines could make you ineligible to win the jackpot. And in other games, not playing all the lines could mean not being eligible to play some or all of the bonus rounds.

If you find that playing the max number of lines is too expensive, just drop your bet per line a bit. Your overall bet per spin will decrease, but you won’t risk cutting yourself out of bonuses and jackpots.

players-guide-win-slots-3Remember, it’s not a race

If you’ve ever played poker, you know that serious players only play about 1% of the hands they’re dealt. Most of the time, they’re waiting around for a solid hand. It’s a game of patience. Now, we’re not suggesting you stare blankly at an online slot machine because, really, you won’t win a thing if you don’t hit the spin button. But we think taking your time could make all the difference. You don’t have to immediately hit the spin button the second you’re paid out. In fact, if you’re using a betting strategy where you alter your next bet based on your payout, you’ll want to take your time between spins.

Couple these tips with a slot machine betting strategy and you could be on your way to playing—and winning—like a seasoned slot machine pro.

insightful info, I cannot even tell you how many times I have hit while jumping between .1 cent and .05 and .25 when if I had just stuck to the ,25 I would have won a lot more. Now that I’m going in for surgery in the morning at 6:00am and will be off for a month 500.00 should take up about 2 hours of that time. jonman1.
