Blackjack Variations

Modern day online casinos host several variants of Blackjack. When it originated in France in 1700 A.D., it was a simple game where the player had to make two cards add up to 21 to embrace victory. As the game traveled across continents, it took on different hues, with small and big variations. Most variations are inspired by some extra moves that are not part of the original Blackjack.

One such early variation was ‘Blackjack Surrender’ where the player was allowed to surrender after the first two cards were dealt. An ‘early’ surrender can be summoned before a dealer checks the hand, while a ‘late’ surrender is made by the player after checking the hand against that of the dealer. The surrender option means forfeiture of half the original bet.

‘Blackjack Switch’ is a challenge that gives players the liberty to play with two hands at one time. The ‘switch’ option allows one to swap the cards between the two hands dealt. If the opening four cards include two or more matching cards, it is a ‘super match’ which is unique to this version. The excitement of winning a ‘super match’ betting pocket prods many regular players to take this side option which is entirely voluntary but holds high stakes.

Another variation of Blackjack is the ‘Double Exposure’ Blackjack. Turning conventional strategy around, it allows the dealer cards to be exposed. It is especially challenging to play on with the full knowledge of a dealer’s hand. It is also a good game to practice strategies, playing at an online casino.

In the latest addition to Blackjack tournaments, ‘Elimination Blackjack’ comprises seven competing players who are eliminated one by one in rapid succession to determine a winner. The winner is the player who holds the majority of chips from 30 hands of Blackjack within the quick time limit of 45 seconds. Almost all online casinos have incorporated these unique versions of Blackjack that pique visitor’s interests.
